One of the biggest attractions of Brookfrield, is the Brookfield Zoo. People travel not only from the Chicagoland area, but from other states as well! The Brookfrield Zoo opened in 1934 and has over 450 species of animals in an area of 216 acres. That place is huge! The zoo quickly gained international recognition as it uses moats and ditches instead of cages to separate the animals from the public. The Brookfrield Zoo was also the first in America to exhibit giant pandas! The zoo itself is a reason to visit the Village of Brookfrield.
